If you’ve been looking for work for months — or even years — you’re not alone.

The technology industry has experienced one of the largest workforce disruptions in decades.

Layoffs, hiring slowdowns, and structural changes have left many experienced professionals navigating job searches far longer than anyone expected.

If you’ve been unemployed for a year or even longer, you may be feeling exhausted, discouraged, and increasingly disconnected from the professional community you once belonged to.

Many members join the collective after experiencing:

  • hundreds of job applications

  • repeated interview rejections

  • freelance platforms that race to the lowest rates

  • pressure to constantly reskill while struggling to pay bills

  • the loss of professional identity that comes with prolonged unemployment

These experiences take a real toll — financially, emotionally, and professionally.

Mindful Collective exists to ensure that no one has to navigate that experience alone.

What the Collective Provides

The collective is a professional community designed to help experienced technologists remain connected to their craft while navigating career transitions.

  • Members may be matched with collaborative projects supporting nonprofits and early-stage organizations.

Projects typically involve small teams working together on research, strategy, design, or technical exploration.

Members are paid for project work based on their level of contribution.

  • Members have access to experienced practitioners who volunteer their time to provide guidance, feedback, and support.

    Mentorship can help members:

    • rebuild confidence

    • develop new skills

    • navigate career transitions

    • reconnect with professional identity

  • One of the hardest parts of unemployment is losing daily connection with other professionals.

The collective creates space for members to collaborate, learn, and support one another.

  • Members can access free or discounted training resources that help them continue developing skills in areas such as:

    • AI tools and workflows

    • product development

    • digital strategy

    • research and design

    These may include access to:

    • affordable health insurance options

    • mental health services

    • gym and wellness memberships

    • discounts on essential services such as internet and groceries

These benefits are made possible through sponsorship partnerships.

Members are not expected to bid on projects or compete against each other for opportunities.

Instead, the collective focuses on matchmaking.

Members complete an onboarding process so we can understand their experience and interests. When projects become available, members are matched with opportunities based on fit.

  • Membership does not guarantee project placement.

Projects depend on the needs of organizations working with the collective and the skills required for each engagement.

However, members gain access to opportunities that are not available through traditional job boards or freelance platforms.

  • Prospective members complete a short onboarding process that includes:

    • an interview

    • discussion of professional experience

    • identifying areas for mentorship or skill development

Some members may be asked to complete training or work with a mentor before joining client projects.

  • Membership costs $25 per month.

Members often find that reconnecting with peers and working on meaningful projects helps restore confidence and momentum.

  • Mindful Collective Studio is designed to support professionals navigating extended career transitions.

This community may not be the right fit for:
